Description
This is a truly fascinating curiosity – and genuinely historical. It is a "railway sled" or also a "gravity seat", a simple invention primarily used by workers in industrial areas of Great Britain during the first half of the 20th century.

At first glance, this curious "rail seat" looks like just a toy, but in reality, it was a practical transportation solution in industrial areas. Workers used it for a quick descent from hills to mines or factories, typically on narrow-gauge tracks leading down from slopes.
Railway SD model
We sat on a simple wooden structure with grooves adapted to the tracks, and for braking we used... our own shoes. This mode of transport was cheap, fast, and – let's admit it – quite adrenaline-inducing. Without any engine, purely using gravity.
