PLM 6001, built in 1909, is among the legendary steam locomotives designed for heavy express trains. It became the starting point of the later French 231 Pacific family.
Mother of the 231s
In 1909, 6001 was the first of a family of powerful, fast locomotives that later received major upgrades. It is seen as the ancestor of the 231 series, including the famous 5-231 K and the streamlined 231 H.

Pacific upgrades
